Electrification is an important topic for almost all manufacturers and users of mobile “construction” equipment. VARIODRIVE helps them define a practical, economical approach to their electrification and thereby comply with the latest laws and regulations.
We help you from the exploratory & conceptual stage and support the electrification of mobile systems with advice and solutions. Together we create a more efficient, sustainable future through the electrification of your mobile systems. We work with well-known brands such as Parker, but also have the ability to create customized solutions that are both technically and economically feasible.
The movements of mobile construction equipment, usually consist of a traction system and an auxiliary function system. The traction system moves the machine forward via wheels or tracks.
The work functions of mobile implements are generally hydraulically driven. An electro-hydraulic pump unit or ePTO provides drive for auxiliary functions on the implement.
We distinguish the following components within an electric drive unit for mobile equipment:
The torque and speed and thus the power output of electric motors vary widely for traction and auxiliary function applications. Different applications require different voltages and desired speed – torque characteristics. For the development of electric and hybrid mobile equipment, VARIODRIVE has a very and comprehensive portfolio of flexible and scalable PMAC and DC motors to meet different application requirements, including electrical and mechanical performance, efficiency, reliability, standardization and cost.
An electro-hydraulic pump system consists of a hydraulic pump and an electric motor controlled by an inverter. The inverter is powered by a direct current source, such as a battery. This combination is used, for example, to drive the auxiliary functions of a mobile machine. This combination makes the hydraulic drive energy efficient and ensures considerable noise reduction.
VARIODRIVE develops and supplies complete solutions for electro-hydraulic pump drives. Various types of pumps can be used, such as axial piston pumps, vane pumps and gear pumps, which can be coupled to a PMAC motor.
The various types of inverters or Mobile Motor Controllers provide an efficient, configurable solution for motor control applications in mobile machines. Applications may include, control of hydraulic pumps, traction and generator functions. The inverter series include both low voltage (24-96 VDC) and high voltage (100-800 VDC) variants for high-quality motor control in combination with the various PMAC and DC motors.
The mechanical drive system is basically the connection between the drive motor and the driven equipment. In this process, power is transmitted, from the elektric motor to the drive shaft, setting machines or the machine parts in motion. Various solutions are possible for driving a mobile machine, such as wheel hub motors or transaxle systems. The drive systems can be equipped with PMAC or DC motors. There are also various mechanical and electronic solutions for steering the vehicle that can be fully integrated into a mobile machine.
