An Electric Hydraulic Pump (EHP) system or electric Power Take-Off (ePTO) is the perfect solution for powering hydraulic (auxiliary) functions in mobile applications. When applying an ePTO system, you get a very efficient solution. With a traditional solution, the hydraulic pump is connected to a PTO shaft of the combustion engine, with an ePTO the hydraulic pump is connected to an electric motor, the Electric Hydraulic Pump (EHP). Once the (auxiliary) functions are used, no energy is required from the combustion engine, creating a zero emission system, reducing noise and increasing efficiency.
The ePTO system consists of a hydraulic pump, an electric PM synchronous motor, an inverter, a DC power source usually a battery and a control system. The ePTO systems are available with continuous power ratings from 2 to 260 kW with flow rates up to 350 l/min and operating pressures up to 450 bar.
For the hydraulic pumps, there are several options such as fixed stroke volume and variable stroke volume pumps. Depending on the desired flow rate, pressure, efficiency and cost, different types of pumps can be selected.
