ATEX Gearboxes
ATEXIn environments where there is an explosive or flammable atmosphere (gases, vapors, or dust), ATEX (ATmosphères EXplosibles) certified products must be used. Examples of such environments include printing facilities, food production, wood or other organic processing, spray booths, and last but not least, the petrochemical industry.
The two standards, ATEX 95 (94/9/EC) and ATEX 137 (99/92/EC), respectively address the equipment used and user safety. The latest version of this directive (2014/34/EU) was published by the European Parliament in March 2015 and became mandatory across the entire EU from April 20, 2016.
