Elastomer couplings are made up of three parts, the main part of which is an elastomer star that is placed between two hub halves. This elastomer is the heart of the claw coupling. It is free of play, transmits large torque moments and absorbs axial, lateral and angular misalignment. When the correct size and hardness is selected, the elastomer optimizes the entire drivetrain. This dampens vibrations and has the correct torsional stiffness. The elastomer star preload ensures a backlash-free transmission, and the precision machining of the two hubs with curved concentric pitch parts ensure smooth concentricity. The damping ability of claw couplings can have a particularly positive effect on the life of adjacent equipment, especially with vibrations, shock loads and dynamic movements.
